Hold’em edges

Texas Hold’em Limit is a game of small edges because players are limited by how much they can bet, and so inexperienced poker players are in some way protected when they make an all-in with a pair, when an opponent have top set. So the amount of lost money is not so big. In a no-limit Hold’em game, the poker player who is putting all-in will lose an important sum of money because the bets are larger fraction than the pot.
In no –limit games the edges are huge and most of the players, especially if they are not such good players, tend to stay away from these games when they have high stakes. And even weak poker players are aware of these games, because people don’t want to lose, for example 94 cents on every dollar that they bet, when , in a limit game they can lose a small amount. At no –limit game if a player is caught in a big pot with a poor hand it is the end for the player. In a no-limit game a player could find himself in the situation when his edge is huge and so he can win a huge pot, but also there is the possibility of making huge mistakes whereas it is very hard to do so in a limit game. Players tend to make more common, not so big mistakes at limit, so one cannot take too great of advantage of an opponent’s huge error. Of course that a soft game is preferable, but the addition of one huge fish will alter the expected value of a No-Limit game much more than it will a limit game.
The difference concerning the edge at a limit game and a no-limit poker game is that the edge at no-limit game is more dynamic. A player edge at limit is usually in the same area, but in no-limit varies a lot depending on the others players game, so winning money can happen or not. You must be a very ,very good player to gain huge bets from players with top pairs and no kicker. But sometimes your opponents will not pay you at all so your expected gain is canceled.
