Single table No-Limit Tournaments

A Sit & Go tournaments table start as soon as at the table is the number of required players. Players choose their locations based on first-come, first served.
Imagine a Sit and Go as a chess game. There are three phases: opening, middle and end phase – you do not checkmate the opponent’s opening. Instead, it is a good idea to prepare middle phase, where you put the pieces in his position to try to make chess mat to end the game.
A Sit and Go also passes through three stages. They are derived from the size of the blinds, or rather your stack of chips in relation to them. The higher the blinds are the higher your strategy will change.

The three stages of Sit and Go’s :
Early stage (you have more than 24 big blinds)
While blinds (openings) are small, you are in phase 1 of your strategy: don’t make risky moves that are not necessary and wait with patience a good card. Patience is very important here.

Median phase (You have between 14 and 24 big blinds)
When openings are growing and becoming a larger part of your stack, the strategy comes into phase 2. You become more aggressive and more special moves are incorporated into your strategy.

Late stage (you have less than 14 big blinds)
If the blinds are so high then your stack will suffer. Here come the most important phase of the tournament, all in or fold stage. This time you will either go all in or you will fold before the flop.

Your strategy in the first two phases is targeted to take you to the last stage. The game itself starts here.
• The game itself starts in the last stage of the tournament.
• Your whole game before it is directed on survival to the last phase.
This is a strong contrast with other variants of poker and cash games (cash games). In tournaments, additional component of the strategy is that you put the tactics to end of the game in the first and second phase varying your play.
In sit and go tournaments there is a strategy called independent chip model which refers that in a tournament with ten players the payout structure is 50%for the first place, 30% for the second place and 20% for the third place. If you know your current equity you can use this to take decisions based on with how much equity you will lose or win after making some actions. For example if you have a 30% equity and it happens to lose by calling to an all-in then you have to balance this with the equity which you can make if you win. The key to use the ICM: If you get situations with positive expectation then you will earn over time. But if you get negative expectation situations then you will lose …
