When to fold
Flop is a very important round in Limit Texas Hold’em, because now you can see five of seven possible cards. It is important to be able to evaluate the value of your hand before continuing playing . Many players consider the turn as the decisive round since betting is doubled, but often the mistakes made during the flop lead to other mistakes during the turn and river.
One of the most common mistakes that experienced players make is to play two high-value cards or an Ace in an early position, then to call the raises with the same type of hand. This is one of the biggest mistakes that you can make as a player, for those hands can very easily become trap hands. The hand is the hand trap that can easily become second-hand value, costing the player a lot of money. The most common trap hands are Ace-10, Ace-Jack, K-Q, King -Jack, King -10, Queen-Jack and Queen-10. Many players usually play that hand in early position and got raises in late position with this type of hand. So if you bet with K-Jack from early position and get a player in late position raises you , you will be caught easily and you will see forced to play against hands like K-Q, Ace-K, Ace –Jack , Ace-Ace , KK and QQ.
In Pot-Limit tournaments you cannot bet more than the size of the pot, unless you’re short-stacked, you could not put all your chips into the pot with a raise first. In this situation, the advantage is of the second player to raise before the flop because such a raise may be enough to determine the best hands to give fold. So every time you raise before the flop in a tour Pot-Limit Hold ‘em you must be prepared to get re-raise for all chips. It is like in boxing in the fact that every time you hit one, you open a riposte. Every time you make a raise, you must be willing to go through with the hand. If you are not willing to do this, you should not have to do that first raise.
On Limit Hold’em there are two important decisions that must be taken in order to fold or not to fold. The first one refers on how you should act pre flop, whether to go with the hand or not. The second one refers on how to act on the turn. The first decision is not so important because you will make only small bets, and you cannot lose large sums of money. The important decision is the one made on the turn, because if you will call the turn then it is a must to call the river, otherwise it would be a disaster to fold the winning hand on the river
